Poison Ruïn is a band I recently discovered through Drunken Sailor Records. I was hooked from the moment I read the description of “Philadelphia death rock/dungeon punk.” Without sounding anything like them, Poison Ruïn manages to encapsulate the feel of Iron Maiden at their most medieval while simultaneously creeping into crusty post-punk territories. I can’t get enough. While Dungeons & Dragons seems to be getting a resurgence in mass media as of late, I have to say that my soundtrack to slaying Kobolds and Bugbears in the dank depths wouldn’t be Metallica, it would be Poison Ruïn. –Ty Stranglehold (Roachleg, imitateahuman.com)
