PIERRE OMER’S SWING REVUE: Tropical Breakdown: CD

Jan 24, 2024

One of the Dead Brothers delves deeper into rock’s musical roots. In this case, the aforementioned root is swing, more specifically French-inflected swing with more concertina and less blazing acoustic guitar runs, which, all told, comes off as a darker, more laid-back exploration of territory similarly explored by Squirrel Nut Zippers a few decades back. They do the style justice; the performances are great and the album overall is a fun listen throughout. –Jimmy Alvarado (Voodoo Rhythm, voodoorhythmrecords.com)
