OUTSIDER: Self-titled: CS

Jan 27, 2023

This three-track tape is without doubt the lowest-fi I’ve ever come across. The production value, what there is of it, consists primarily of fuzzed-out wailings and metallic scrapings, and it works well enough in this context for what it is. Outsider is so deep in the dark recesses of basement and garage rock that such genres seem elegant, mature, and refined in comparison. This certainly won’t be for everyone, but if you like rock’n’roll that sounds like it was recorded in a metal trash can, go for it. –The Lord Kveldulfr (Slipping Grip)
