ODIO SOCIAL / RADICAL FUN TIME: Social Time: Split 10”

Jan 05, 2022

Odio Social are from Brazil so it makes sense they sound like Ratos De Porão. They play politically charged and fast hardcore with a little metal and crust influence. Radical Fun Time take the split for me with a far more relaxed and, well, fun approach to extreme music. I can’t help but be reminded of the first time I heard Exit 13’s Don’t Spare the Green Love collection and their unusual take on grindcore. There are fast parts but there are also slow parts. There are also parts that are just plain silly and goofy but it’s all a part of the madness and why the songs are so appealing. The band is also politically and socially conscious but with a sense of humor as evidenced by song titles such as “The Bizarre Breakfast Battle Ballet Between Pop-Tart and Toaster Strudels.” No idea what that could possibly mean, but I do know that the tunes rip. –Juan Espinosa (Dilapidated [email protected] / Fields Without Fences / Radical Fun, radicalfuntime.bandcamp.com)
