NOT LIKE YOU: LOVE LETTERS TO GROSSO, 5½” x 8½”, printed, 76 pgs.

Last issue I wrote a review of a band called Fastplants who were paying tribute to legendary pro skater Jeff Grosso, who passed about a year ago. That record was released by New Mexico skate rock zine Not Like You. Now the zine has taken the tribute a step further by publishing this amazing homage to one of the greatest ambassadors skateboarding has ever had. It is a stunning collection of photos, anecdotes, and artwork. The title is a play on the name of Jeff’s YouTube show (Jeff Grosso’s Love Letters to Skateboarding) and comes across as exactly that. It brought tears to my eyes reading this and wondering if Jeff knew just how many lives he touched. Personally, I never got the chance to meet him in person, but I still feel a little star struck when I think about the time he gave me a shoutout online alongside Tim Kerr when talking about the Big Boys shoes I designed and he convinced Vans to manufacture. His attitude, style, and pure love of skateboarding will be sorely missed. Reading the stories within this tome reinforces all of that. I am so happy that I have this to look at whenever I need a reminder of what it is all about. Thank you! Now fuck off and go skate! –Ty Stranglehold (Not Like You Zine, 102 Richmond Ave. SE, Albuquerque NM, 87106)
