There’s the Not Like You record label, and then there’s the Not Like You zine. For the purposes of this review, I’m talking about Not Like You zine, specifically Issue #9, which is mostly comprised of interviews with skaters, including Annie Guglia, Pete Betti, Dane Burma, Sam Hart, Maddie Collins, and more. There are a couple pages of reviews of skate zines. Also focused on skateboarding is a multi-page “Collector’s Corner with James Lamb” (on a hard-to-read layout of black text on dark purple pages) that features several photos of the interiors of skate shops. But this zine is not just about skate culture. It’s also about books (Nancy Barile’s memoir I’m Not Holding Your Coat is reviewed), photography (Kevin Salk and his mesmerizing photos of iconic punk shows are featured), and music (Brooklyn, N.Y.-based band Slashers are interviewed). Still, if you’re deep into skateboarding, this is the zine for you. –Gina Murrell (102 Richmond Ave. SE, Albuquerque NM, 87106)
