No One Sphere is a music project headed up by Dave Mann of Washington, D.C., and he and his project have created a solid record. This has a college alt-rock aura that sounds to my ears like a muted late-era Soul Asylum. The songs are polished and engaging, if a tad derivative at times, but that’s okay with me. The seventh and final track is a thirty-five minute swirly instrumental that would work well as the ambient soundtrack for a film about space travel, and I’m rather ambivalent about it, but the first six songs definitely hit the mark.
