NO MATTER: Bad Chemistry: LP/CD

Sep 22, 2022

Previous releases from Northern Ireland’s No Matter have always managed to keep my interest for a short while without really taking root in my head. Bad Chemistry changes that and it seems the band has taken a big leap forward both in terms of quality of songs and its sound. As a reference point, I’d plump for Teen Idols and would say there’s a similar EpiFat sound to what those Tennesseans provided, with up-tempo tunes and a penchant for sweet harmonies. In fact, if the Honest Don’s label was still in existence, this would easily fit well with its output. One of the better pop punk records I’ve heard in a while. –Rich Cocksedge (Brassneck, brassneckrecords.bigcartel.com / Waterslide, [email protected], watersliderecords.com)
