NO ALTERNATIVE: Live at the Mabuhay Gardens December 7, 1980: CD

A board recording of a great set by this venerable ’70s/’80s San Francisco punk act, which featured on the Not So Quiet on the Western Front and the first SF Underground compilations, as well as releasing a few choice records of their own. The band is at peak punchiness here, packing much thud as they run through eleven songs, including hits like “Dying in the U.S.A.,” and “Rockabilly Rumble,” as well as an inspired punk take on Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues.” Tacked on are a couple of unreleased studio tracks, the swampy “Witch Doctor” and a galloping “Working Class Boy.” Fans of Negative Trend or early D.O.A. will find much to their liking here. –Jimmy Alvarado (Liberation Hall,
