NEW BERLIN: State of the Union: LP

As a quick aside, what percentage of records in this community are mastered or recorded by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios? It must be a real lot. And honestly, when I see that this is the case, I’m almost always pretty sold. And it’s not just because I’m from Massachusetts and have a weird sense of commitment to that, it’s just good work. The label suggests that this record is RIYL or influenced by folks like Jimi Hendrix, Bad Brains, and The Velvet Underground, which I guess checks out. It’s definitely a little more subdued than most of that, if you ask me, leaning a lot more heavily towards The Velvet Underground and classic rock’n’roll influences with a dark edge than the more chaotic Bad Brains or psychedelic Jimi Hendrix. –Theresa W.
