NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: Self-titled: LP

Jul 20, 2021

Not to be confused with the old Venice band, who also have been active in recent years, this band is a Canadian hardcore first active in the mid-’80s that released a 7” EP in 1987 and have again been active since 2015. The sound here is true to form—largely gallop-speed hardcore with a heavy mid-’80s bent, a teensy bit of metal in the guitars, shouted vocals, and lyrical content both timely and universal. Overall production is better than the aforementioned 7”, the songs are fun and, coming from a fellow old-timer, there’s a conviction here performance-wise that too often gets lost when older bands give it another go. –Jimmy Alvarado (Neighbourhood Watch, neighbourhoodwatchband.bandcamp.com)
