This self-titled slab is the fourth LP from this long-running band, but my first time in. Needles//Pins feel like a Chattanooga/Gainesville type gruff pop punk band who’ve matured into a rock unit, playing shambling, sore-throat anthems of hungover regret. The “sad drunk guy” vibes are a bit much, but sometimes it sounds like Tim on a dying boombox, and the nuances of the songs burble up as the record spins. –Chris Terry (Dirt Cult, dirtcultrecords.com)
