This vintage 1990 Milwaukee quintet likely delved a bit too deeply into Procol Harum-styled organ swells to singe the follicles of much of this publication’s readership, but it’s still cool to hear vocalist Steve Wahlen (perhaps best known for his involvement with early ’80s Milwaukee new wavers Einstein’s Riceboys) spitting out adultery metaphors like “some other Charmin® squeezer is stocking shelves in your supermarket” like a drunken Wisconsinite Elvis Costello or some such thing. The band is at their best when they’re sounding straightforward and cocky (“Existence,” “Flo-Jo”); they lose me a little when they go all ambitious and tormented. Same as it ever was. BEST SONG: “Flo-Jo.” BEST SONG TITLE: “Kill Chevy” or “Sick on the Porch.” FANTASTIC AMAZING TRIVIA FACT: “Petrol” is not the Vibrators song. –Rev. Nørb (Rockhaus)
