MODERNETTES: Eighty Eighty Two: LP

Mar 10, 2023

When you talk about punk rock in Vancouver in the late ’70s/early ’80s, the holy trinity is almost universally known as D.O.A., The Subhumans, and Pointed Sticks. Not mentioned as often, but just as important are Modernettes. This reissue compiles the bands two EPs Teen City (1980) and View from the Bottom (1982), hence the name Eighty Eighty Two. Tight power pop/punk that never fails to get me bouncing around. My only gripe about this one is how they managed to spell the name of the song “Barbra” wrong on the back cover. Sure, “Barbara” might be the more common way to spell the name, but they literally spell it out in the song three times! Besides that minor gaffe, this is a great collection and I’m really happy to have it in my collection. –Ty Stranglehold (Projectile Platters / pukenvomitrecords.com)
