MODERN CYNICS: Auditory Postcards: CS

May 25, 2021

Self-styled “Quarantine-core” from Matty Grace (Future Girls, Fat Stupids, Outtacontroller). I don’t know if you can call it a “Nova Scotia” sound at all, but even before I knew who this was my first thoughts were of Mark Vodka Group or Booji Boys. This is sort of “medium-fidelity” punk rock on the catchier side of things that I absolutely love. Quick blasts (only two tracks stray above the two minute mark) that show up just long enough to stick in your head, and boom, you’re on to the next one. I like the idea of this being fleshed out as a band after the quarantine. I hope that the fact that other band members are listed on their Bandcamp page means that is the direction they’re going. This is going to get a lot of play around here. –Ty Stranglehold (Dirt Cult)
