Chelsea meets Street Dogs? Street punk sensibilities seen through Ramones-tinted glasses? Early Dropkick Murphys gone garage-y? Whichever way one might think of Providence, R.I.’s McGunks, the tunes herein all have a reductive simplicity to them, and in a good way, but a few more hooks and harmonies would take this record a lot further. As it is it’s not bad, but it doesn’t really stand out from the crowd of other records I have like this in my record closet. I somehow get the impression, however, that the McGunks might have a compelling stage presence, but don’t hold me to task on that. –The Lord Kveldulfr (75 Or Less)
