MARTIN SAVAGE GANG: Now We’re Rollin’: LP

Perfectly loose garage punk’n’roll that’s mostly on a benign “let’s party, life sucks” trip, with a few notable exceptions: the pitch-black abuse and psychological damage at the heart of the otherwise upbeat “NYC,” the dreamy and exhausting country life of “Train Driver Blues,” and the pep talk shrug of “Life Is Easy” (“At least you can do no wrong/ when you’re sitting there all alone”). They’re having a good time, even when they’re telling us you can’t have a good time all the time. –Matt Werts (Human Audio Recordings, martinsavagegang.bandcamp.com)
