MARTIN SAVAGE GANG: Fool’s Gold: 7”

Jan 21, 2022

This three-song offering from the Stockholm trio Martin Savage Gang has a heaping load of ’70s garage rock’n’roll influence with some unfortunately typical lyrical trappings. My preference aligns with the two more up-tempo songs on the B-side instead of the song from which this record is titled, as they’re just more rockin’. There’s some good stuff here that suffers from being a little too by-the-numbers, with songs about “just wanting to play rock’n’roll” and “taking care of business” that will get a sideways look from me every time. –Mark Twistworthy (Human Audio, martinsavagegang.bandcamp.com)
