MANIAC: Dead Dance Club: LP

I don’t like to consider myself a loser, but I’m a bit behind the curve here with Maniac. The band’s second album represents my first encounter with the band and I feel the need to hang my head in shame at being late to the party. The record features a track titled “Precision Accuracy,” and that is a perfect description of the power pop/new wave delivery of a band consisting of members of the Clorox Girls and Cute Lepers, to name a few. It’s a touch reminiscent of Radioactivity in places, especially through the drumming which underpins the songs with the aforementioned precision, and also due to the big melodies. Strong stuff indeed. –Rich Cocksedge (Dirt Cult, [email protected], dirtcultrecords.wordpress.com / Hovercraft, hovercraftpdx.com)
