LOWDOWNS, THE: This 10¢ Life: CD

Pick your favorite punk rock’n’roll heroes and put them in a meat grinder—Johnny Thunders, Stiv Bators, Duane Peters, et cetera. The sausage that comes out the other end might be something like the Lowdowns. The problem is that the product is not the equivalent of the parts you put in the machine. It feels processed. In the end, it’s just a hot dog. The Lowdowns are a very formulaic attempt at capturing that rock and roll spirit of 1977. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t add anything to the story. –Jon Mule (Die Laughing, dielaughingrecords.com)
