Louis Jacinto Photo Column — The Bags, farewell 1979
Before 1979 ended, Pat Bag would leave The Bags. Alice Bag was ready to have the group continue to grow artistically, but it was not to be. This image of Pat Bag and Rob Ritter were among the last photographs I took of The Bags. I thought, like all of their fans, that they would go on forever and we would be there supporting them, catching their shows, and buying their records.
To be truthful, the scene was changing. The diversity that the bands and the fans exhibited was about to be supplanted by the skinhead boy bands from Orange County. It was not the punk music scene we created, but it was the scene that followed our innovative sound and message. I was lucky enough to be on the outskirts, taking photographs of the bands I loved.
