Portland duo doing that sparse, atmospheric thing—very moody and cinematic. Laura Mariposa Williams has a powerful voice, and some of the arrangements these folks come up with are definitely impressive. Others, at least for this listener, are a little too navel-gazing. I mean, it’s all a very far cry from “punk,” sonically speaking, but what does that even mean anymore? Anyway, if you like powerful, layered vocals and synths that sound like old sci-fi films where a ship floats aimlessly adrift in a black, screaming void, this is your jam for sure. –Keith Rosson (Lore City)
