LITTLE ENGINES #8, free, 7” x 10”, newsprint with inserts, 22 pgs.

May 15, 2023

Did you know there’s a literary journal called Taco Bell Quarterly?! That may be the biggest takeaway from this issue of Little Engines. One of the tales here is from editor Adam Voith and involves a trip to Taco Bell. Adam mentions he tried to submit the story to TBQ, but they rejected it. Still, it’s a good tale about the gap between the haves and the have-nots. Beyond that piece are a few poems and a great short story by Lynn Steger Strong about living at the beach amid the COVID pandemic. The artwork by Kevin Sampsell is terrific. This is all done in color newsprint, and the quality is impressive. I don’t know how Adam continues to put this out for free. However, if you like indie literary publications, send him a postcard or letter or go to littleengines.pub. –Kurt Morris (4117 Hillsboro Pike #103-332, Nashville, TN 37215)
