KUMA NO MOTOR: Baiona Zikina: LP/CD/CS

Jan 24, 2024

This French trio brings together a heady mix of d-beat and noise rock to create a punishing sound that I’m more than happy to embrace and welcome into my life. They’re a new band to me but it seems they’ve been around since 2011 at least. Subtlety is thrown out of the window as a continuous barrage is delivered with a thick, yet relatively clean, sound across the ten tracks. Musically this is tight as hell, although, thematically, I have no idea what the songs are about—as the lyrics are in Euskara, a Basque language—but that lack of understanding does nothing to reduce my enjoyment of the album. This is relentless and I like it a lot. –Rich Cocksedge (Dispear, [email protected], dispear-records.com / Crapoulet, [email protected], crapouletrecords.fr / Filferro, filferrorecords.bigcartel.com / Producciones Tudancas, [email protected], musikaze.com/produccionestudancas)
