Somehow I never actually heard this band, despite buying plenty of pop punk rekkids well into the twenty-first century. Expected that they would be a dead center “Mutant Pop” band, and that certainly turns out to be the case. Songwriting is above average and, thankfully, there is none of that nasally post-Weasel thing in the vocals. The song “Me and My NES” is a particular standout and a prime example of well-done pop punk. If you continue to be a fan of the kind of pop punk that could be found in the Mutant Pop catalog, The Koopas are near the top of the stack, to be sure. –Mike Frame (Pop Robbery)
