Strike Anywhere has been one of my favorite bands for about fifteen years now. I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph them in different venues from Virginia to California to Florida. These days, it’s always a treat to be able to see them play and this past October was no exception. They played a hometown show at Strange Matter before gearing up for The Fest and it did not disappoint. Their energy and passion have never faltered over the years and to this day they still remain one of my favorite live acts.
In 2008 I did some portraits of them before a show in DC and it was a great experience. During the show, my buddy bought the Dead FM album for me and had Thomas sign it. He wrote, “Julie, thanks for lending us your vision!” I couldn’t have appreciated that more at the time, as I was only a couple years into my journey as a photographer. It is still something that motivates me today, so thanks Thomas!
