JOUKKOHAUTA: Self-titled: 7” EP

Jul 20, 2021

Jesus christ! Finland’s Joukkohauta play some insanely blistering d-beat hardcore racket that will peel the flesh off if you stand too close to the speakers. It’s just non-stop intensity once the needle glides into the groove. Doom meets Mob 47. “Hello Käy” has a riff that sounds similar to “Thirsty and Miserable,” only ten times more wound up. You get thundering percussion that doesn’t let up; they just double down and keep going for broke every time. The guitar is making some ungodly racket, while the bass holds it together with low end from the lower depths of hell, and a vocalist who has an undeniable urgency. This is a must-have for all lovers of the fast and noisy hardcore punk. –Matt Average (Audacious Madness, audacious madness.storenvy.com, [email protected])
