You know when you show up to an art-school-kid warehouse gig two hours after start time and the first band is still dicking around duct-taping their keyboards together, then they disappear to put on costumes, and by the time they emerge you’re drunk and restless, thinking, “This had better be fucking good.”? Well, John Paul George Ringo Richard are the best-case-scenario for one of those gigs, pumping out raw and quirky German robot rock that’s catchy and weird with a great sense of forward motion. I’ve never heard anything quite like this, but it makes me want to spray paint a stencil. I wish I’d seen them a couple dozen times in the mid-’00s.
