Gentle bedroom pop with simple guitar or piano-led arrangements. Jay Shingle’s got a high-pitched, vulnerable voice like Jason Lytle from Grandaddy. It works well with this collection of hushed songs, which includes a handful of well-interpreted indie, classic rock, and pop covers—and two originals that fit right in with the rest. It would be a complete slam dunk to book this bard for a coffee shop gig. He’s playing the hits and making them his own. –Chris Terry (relatedrecords.bandcamp.com)
