JAKI SHELTON GREEN: The River Speaks of Thirst: LP

Dec 03, 2020

Outside of my normal sphere of listening—probably yours, too: poetry read by the first-ever African American woman poet laureate of North Carolina. Sometimes vocals only, sometimes with ambient music or minimal beats in the back. Green’s poetry is arresting and at times deeply confrontational of long-established racial and gender lines. Intense and simmering, and worth a listen or five for sure. –Michael T. Fournier (jakisheltongreen.bandcamp.com)
