INSPECTOR 34: Love My Life: LP

Ambitious, theatrical, existential prog pop that owes a bit to Sparks or maybe Blood Brothers, though I wouldn’t say it reaches the heights of either. Inspector 34’s songs sometimes drag and grate. Sometimes the band zones out and rocks. They lose me with nonsense like “Thick Balogna,” but when the drifting soundscape “Ride the River of Light” finally arrives, the dramatic scope of the album becomes clear. A little uneven, but impressive. –Matt Werts (Sad Milk, sadmilkcollective.bandcamp.com)
