HOLLY AND THE NICE LIONS: Black Moon: CD

Sep 17, 2018

Black Moon is an eleven-song, thirty-five-minute album of fuzzy-guitar indie rock. Holly And The Nice Lions can play a little dirty but, for the most part, they sound like bands I’ve heard at a lot of small venues while I waited for my friends’ bands to play. They’ve got some surf influences. A garage sound with female vocals tops it all off. Nothing here grabbed me, but nothing turned me off, either. What I really want from music that’s electric guitar-based is for it to have some muscle and to be hit over the head, and I need it pretty soon out of the gate, which, unfortunately, Black Moon didn’t provide. –Kurt Morris (facebook.com/hollyandthenicelions)
