HER HEAD’S ON FIRE: College Rock and Clove Cigarettes: LP

Sep 22, 2022

A collection of punk lifers here (see how I didn’t say supergroup?). I was smitten with their split 7” with J. Robbins a few months back. This introductory full-length builds on the tease of that single song with a full slab of taut, anthemic gems—the band’s named after a Dag Nasty lyric, so their catalogue isn’t a bad place to start in the way of comparison. It’s worth mentioning here that Joe Grillo has always played guitar while singing in previous bands (like Garrison and Stricken For Catherine, to name two). Here, his vox take unexpected turns, due, I suspect, to being untethered from signing and playing at the same time. –Michael T. Fournier (Iodine, iodinerecordings.com)
