HELL NIGHT / SWEAT SHOPPE: Split: 7”

Sep 17, 2018

This EP is split between Hell Night, a metal band with aggressive, bass-heavy instrumentation, and Sweat Shoppe, who tend towards an old school hardcore approach. Hell Night’s screamed vocals seemed pretty generic alongside their entertaining (if not occasionally meandering) riffing. Sweat Shoppe’s contribution was generally more captivating, despite the annoying similarity between each of their songs. Although the bands mesh together pretty well, this release felt a little arduous, which is actually impressive considering this release is only ten minutes long. Fans of old school hardcore or extreme metal might enjoy this split, but I found it mediocre. –Anna Farr (Encapsulated, encapsulatedrecords.com)
