GULDSJAKAL: Self-titled: LP

Approached this with trepidation cuz I kinda expected some kinda cock-rockery to be afoot. There may well be—confession: my knowledge of the Danish language is abysmal—but the music is grade-A, mid-tempo scuzzy punk rock with bare-bones structures and raspy vocals. The closest they ever get to cock rock is “Slik Flammer,” which sounds vaguely like Kiss as interpreted by Bathory. Likely not for all tastes, but I found I’d played it four times in a row on its first go-‘round, so I reckon that means I dug it in much the same way I dig The Mentally Ill’s oeuvre. Limited to 150 copies. –Jimmy Alvarado (Mastermind)
