Do you like the New York Dolls but wish they were still writing new songs today? This is close to that idea: piercing guitar solos, big rock riffs, and robust vocals. That’s the feeling I get from many of their tracks, but then the second one, called “Austin,” has this slide guitar thrown in, and a blistering tempo that is closer to something like a mix of Zeke and Nashville Pussy. It’s your basic, formulaic rock’n’roll with songs about blow, sex, and being cool. They put a bit of a glam and tough guy spin on it though. In their song “Pretty Kitty” they ask the pressing question, “Why do all the pretty girls have to die?” I’m left shrugging my shoulders and rolling my eyes at the same time. –Kayla Greet (Otto)
