GOOD GRIEF: Self-titled: 7”

Interesting sampling of influences here from this Las Vegas band. Sort of a desert-fried take on Midwestern power pop/pop punk. Sometimes it sounds like The Figgs, sometimes it sounds like The Spits covering Shark Pants, but four times slower. Yet, no matter the direction, I like where it’s going. Devoid of pretention, you get the feeling that Good Grief just don’t really give a shit, and that makes me care so much more. Here’s to bands not trying to figure out a hyper-specific sound and just playing what ever the fuck they want. –Daryl (Desert Hospitality / National Southwestern, [email protected])
