GOIN’ PLACES: Save the World: LP

May 25, 2021

I first heard Staten Island’s Goin’ Places in the final days of Mutant Pop Records. One of Mutant Pop’s highly collectable “Short Run CD” releases, the Goin’ Places Mutant Pop CD-R, was in heavy rotation for several months in my home. Two full lengths followed over the years, as did a lathe cut EP last year. Dual male vocals switch back and forth over wondrous pop punk riffs in a way that immediately resembles Seattle’s Sicko. While this is their first new album in almost a decade, those in the know never forgot them. A big score for the superb label Mom’s Basement, Goin’ Places is an aptly titled band if ever there was one. –Art Ettinger (Mom’s Basement, momsbasementrecords.bigcartel.com)
