The art on this slab goes out of its way to mention back story: this long-defunct ’80s Chicago band recorded a bunch of recently unearthed songs with the departed Iain Burgess, who did stuff for the Effigies, Big Black, Naked Raygun, and scads more. Adding to the reissue intrigue is a new mix by Steve Albini. With all this said, the songs on Oh Yeah No are well-mannered pop constructions with occasional grit, but none of the piss and vitriol I expect after so many heavy hitter namedrops.
