Sweden’s Gefyr upholds the country’s longstanding tradition of producing excellent hardcore bands. This album is a tsunami of wave after crushing wave of tracks, relentless in their plundering nature. Whereas some bands of the genre have quite a muddied sound, there is enough clarity in what’s going on to make me think of the likes of Out Cold. I first heard this on the internet, and after a half dozen plays bought the download. After a few more goes, I reached for my wallet again as I had found a U.K. distro stocking the record, negating the need to pay the shocking international postage costs of the modern age. I love frantic hardcore and this is, without doubt, one of the best purchases I’ve made this year of that, or any, ilk. It’s got a great mix of Swedish and U.S. hardcore going on as it races along at a breakneck speed for twenty-two minutes. This is bloody brilliant! –Rich Cocksedge (Flyktsoda, [email protected])
