GEE STRINGS, THE: I’m So Gee: LP

Nov 29, 2016

I’ve heard this record before. In the backgrounds of television shows, often played slightly below talking volume. Generic party punk music. I am, on one hand, baffled at its unclear intent and, on the other, mindlessly tuning out the record as it plays. The music is a standard mix of pop punk and ‘77 first wave punk that sounds an awful lot like fuzzed-out rock’n’roll. If I had to compare it to another band, it kind of sounds like the Toy Dolls but without all the crazy guitar work. Ultimately, the taste is bland but I can’t say I don’t like it. It’s more pleasant than no music at all, but less pleasant than music I actually am engaged with. –Bryan Static (Ghost Highway / KOTJ / Adrenalin Fix / Stryckhnine, ghosthighwayshop.com)
