GARBAGE GREEK: Thank You for Choosing Evil: CS

Sep 20, 2017

These guys are doing that psychy, ‘60s garage revival everyone else is doing. There are foot stomps, vague songs about girls, an eight-minute jam about a woman wearing black clothing, and even a song called “Voodoo.” They do it well though; songs are that familiar lo-fi quality with big, clean drums and tambourine cutting right through dirtied-up white boy blues riffs, and lots of “woo” sprinkled in with adequate verb. The production is great; nuanced percussion and organ make the repetitive fourteen songs feel more interesting. Sounds like the soundtrack to every other reverb-drenched, denim-clad gentrifiers trip to Joshua Tree, but hey, these dudes have great tone! –Candace Hansen (
