This new issue of Matthew Thompson’s long-running zine has “Big Mud” as a theme—punk is a river, with tributaries contributing to the overall flow. The metaphor itself comes from Mike Watt, so it’s no surprise that a sprawling, engaging interview with the man in the van with the bass in his hand is the centerpiece of this one. Tons of other great stuff here—Jessie Lynn McMains uses the Replacements as a thematic device for a memoir piece; The Subhumans interview their roadies Karoline Collins and Jessica Mills; Marcher Arrant walks railroad tracks and tags. Beautifully printed and laid out, to boot. It’s been a while since a new issue landed in my mailbox. So happy to see this one going strong. –Michael T. Fournier (PO Box 1547, Phoenix, AZ 85001)
