ENGINES: Obsolete: CD

Chicago’s Engines play melodic pop-infused garage rock. The quiet riffs and subdued echoing vocals made this a bit too mellow—I won’t call it boring—for my tastes. Even the parts where the band gets a little noisy and jangly at times didn’t do much to get my pulse going. If you’re looking for mellow beauty, you’ve come to the right place, but if you’re looking for something a bit more lively, I’d look elsewhere. –Paul J.
