DYNAMITE HEMORRHAGE #9, $6, 5½” x 8½, offset, 44pgs.

My second issue of this fantastic Bay Area fanzine, with fan at the fore. Jay Hinman lavished care and attention on stuff he likes. In issue #8 it was Slash magazine. This time it’s on 1970s American film, before blockbusters like Jaws and Star Wars forced the gradual extinction of low-budget, character-driven films made by recent film school grads. Hinman dives deep into his favorites and even reviews books about the time period for readers who want to take it a step further. As summer rolls around, this one is a treasure map of end-of-the-day viewing. Record reviews and interviews with bands (Kneeling In Piss, Burnt Envelope) round out the proceedings. Fantastic. –Michael T. Fournier (523 Mangels Ave., SF, CA 94127)
