What band is this? I feel like they continue to tread the path of each major influence over their lifetimes. We’ve arrived in The Drowns Go Glam: an expert level cover of Slade’s “Know Who You Are.” These boys have gone from working class boots and braces to big hair and bigger guitars. Having known the band’s front person, Aaron “Rev” Peters for well over a decade, I can say that this progression makes sense. For people who became fans of The Drowns first, this might come as a total surprise. At their core, the band is still that blue collar, working class, down-to-earth group—though on this 7” it’s a lot of glitz and glam and big guitars. Also Rev’s voice is sounding stronger and fuller than it possibly ever has on these recordings. Certainly a well done and fun ’70s throwback for the modern age. –Kayla Greet (Pirates Press)
