DICK AND JANE / NO ALTERNATIVE: Live at Gilman Street 1989: CD

Maybe you were bopping around the Bay Area in the late ‘80s and have fond memories of seeing Dick And Jane or No Alternative. Maybe you were even at this specific show at Gilman Street. If so, you are going to love this stroll down memory lane. If not, you probably aren’t going to give a shit, because this is really not that outstanding. It’s a serviceable recording of a pretty okay live show by a couple of nondescript bands. Oh, according to a note on the back, which seems like a desperate attempt to sell copies of this disc, there are three bonus tracks by “the band who headlined that night.” According to the flyer that is printed adjacent to this note, that band was Green Day. I don’t know if that’s true, but if it is, then Green Day has always been boring. –MP Johnson (Die Laughing, dielaughingrecords.com)
