DIAZ BROTHERS: Self-titled: CD

The members of H.D.Q. dust themselves off and come up with this new outfit. Packs a punch that fans of Dag Nasty and Good Riddance will want to scoop up. Heartfelt lyrics, chunky guitar lines, and a rhythm section as solid as a brick wall. No, they can’t all be winners, but this record comes pretty damn close. A verse in “Empty Bar Stool” resonates the most with me—“Your anger bleeds into your sadness / you finally found your place to come undone / now I can’t see your face / just an empty bar stool / I’m wishing I was next to you.” Hell yeah. –Sean Koepenick (Boss Tuneage, [email protected])
