DEZERTER: Kłamstwo to Nowa Prawda: LP

For whatever reason, I’ve reviewed quite a few Polish punk records over the years, but never a band with the history of Dezerter. A quick Wikipedia research session reveals that Dezerter have been cranking out political punk rock consistently since 1981! Their first album, recorded in 1983 and 1984 as EPs, gained an international release in 1987 with the help of one Joey Shithead, via Maximumrocknroll. Sounding a fair bit like Chron Gen and other UK82 bands, Dezerter impressively carved their way through the ’80s behind the Iron Curtain, making records and touring Eastern Europe. Three decades after the wall came down and with two of the three founding members keeping Dezerter going, this record—album number fourteen—is a great listen.
