Deb Frazin Photo Column—Southern Culture On The Skids

Southern Culture On The Skids has been consistently kickin’ ass since 1983. They have a vast discography of fourteen full-length albums, and not one clunker in the bunch. Each album is packed full of greasy, southern-fried garage rockabilly/surf/psych goodness!

Whenever Rick Miller, Mary Huff (oh, that voice!), and Dave Hartman roll into town, you bet your sweet ass I’m there—right up front. No band puts on a better show than Southern Culture On The Skids—it’s a real party when the three of ’em hit the stage (especially when the fried chicken starts flying into the audience)!

Rick Miller is one of my favorite guitarists—I could watch him play that Danelectro for ten hours straight and never get bored. SCOTS is a perfect band— each band member is vital, and could never be replaced. If I had the choice, SCOTS would be the first band I’d choose to see after this pandemic is over. It would be the perfect fix after one long year of no live shows.
